Over Teresa van Twuijver
Teresa van Twuijver is ontwerper, onderzoeker en journalist in Amsterdam. Ze werkt met duurzaam textiel, biodesign en storytelling. Vanuit haar achtergrond in journalistiek en nieuwe mediakunst onderzoekt ze hoe ambacht, technologie en natuur samen een leefbare toekomst kunnen vormen.
Opleiding
Afgestudeerd aan de Gerrit Rietveld Academie (Fine Art, honours Artistic Research) en cum laude met twee MA’s aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam. In 2019 rondde ze de Fabricademy af bij Waag TextileLab Amsterdam
Praktijk
Haar werk beweegt tussen textiel, tekenen, tuinieren en schrijven. Ze maakte tentoonstellingen over brood, geloof, technologie en de dood, vaak in onverwachte ruimtes zoals een bakkerswinkel en een begraafplaats. Werk is ondersteund door o.a. het Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie, AFK, Mondriaanfonds en Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds.

About Teresa van Twuijver
Teresa van Twuijver is a designer, researcher and journalist based in Amsterdam. Her work explores the intersections between sustainable textiles, biodesign, and storytelling.
With a background in journalism and new media art, Teresa combines craft, technology and ecology to imagine more liveable, regenerative futures. Her projects often emerge from curiosity, material research and an urge to rethink how we relate to the world.
Education
Teresa studied Fine Art (Honours in Artistic Research) at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, specialising in unstable media and digital technologies. She holds two cum laude Master’s degrees from the University of Amsterdam (English Language and Literature, Cultural Studies). In 2019 she completed the Fabricademy at Waag TextileLab Amsterdam, an international programme on digital fabrication and sustainable textiles.
Practice
Her practice moves fluidly between textiles, drawing, gardening and writing, always with a focus on connection, ecology and imagination. She curated and created exhibitions around themes like bread, religion, technology and death, often shown in unconventional venues such as bakeries, libraries, factories, churches and graveyards.
Her work has been supported by the Creative Industries Fund NL, AFK (Amsterdam Fund for the Arts), Mondriaan Fund, Prins Bernhard Culture Fund and the Fund for Cultural Participation.
